Overview and Purpose of the Security Industry

The security industry has one main purpose that is to provide personnel and systems to protect people, property and premises. This is the perspective taken by the security industry. To achieve this goal of protection, the industry can be divided into three sectors. The three main sectors are:-
Manned Services: Includes the provision of uniformed or plain clothed personnel to commercial, industrial and retail outlets. The role of these Guards are to ensure the safety and security of people, spaces and property under guard (often called cash in transit or CIT), store detection, door supervision, close protection, dog handling, aviation security, maritime security and private investigation.
Systems: The systems sector comprises intruder alarms; CCTV, fire systems and access control systems. Simply put this aspect of security is supported largely by technology.
Physical Security: Includes alternative/additional security measures such as locks, grills, barriers. It is all about the physical characteristics of the building and surrounding areas and how they can be used to enhance the security of premises. Again there is less emphasis on personnel, however more so than security systems, there is a stronger relationship between security personnel and physical security. As a security guard you will therefore have a role in a significant part of the whole industry and this will become clearer as the course progresses. The role of the security guard has changed significantly overtime, involving increasing responsibilities and the use of high technology.

My Ambition in Life

Illiteracy is the greatest curse in Pakistan and so to be help of my countrymen. I want to be a teacher. My object in becoming a teacher is not to amass a  wealth by tuition or other unfair means but simply how to show light to my ignorant countrymen. I shall take pride in becoming a good teacher. All the Prophets of God were great teachers. So this profession is a legacy of the Prophets. Our Holy Prophet laid great stress on education. So, i think, any help given to the cause of education is the greatest service to humanity. They can save themselves from evil and diseases by becoming educated.

A Morning Walk

I get up early in the morning and join my friends for a walk to the canal. We pass through the Jinnah Gardens. Birds fly about  chirping and singing their merry songs. The cool morning breeze in summer makes us fresh. On reaching the canal, we have a bath and say our morning prayer on the bank. We walk up and down for a few minutes. We see scores of other people, swimming, bathing or enjoying a walk along the bank. The dew drops glisten like pearls in the morning sun. We return home happy and cheerful in about two hours. A morning walk does good to our health.

A House On Fire

It was a night in July. I was sleeping in the open on the roof of my house. At about midnight, i was awakened by the noise of Fire, Fire I jumped out of bed and saw the flames rising from the house only third to ours. I soon ran down and ran to the house on fire with a bucket of water. Dozens of other people were already there. Several of them were removing the inmates and household goods. Many more were throwing buckets of water on the flames to bring them under control. I also joined them. The inmates were running about and crying for help. I ran up the Fire Brigade. It arrived in about half an hours. It threw water on the fire by means of big canvas hoses. It extinguished the fire in about twenty minutes. Fortunately, there was no loss of life but the loss of property was about 50 thousand rupees.

My Favourite Hobby

Stamp-collecting is my favourite hobby. I became interested in it at the age of eleven. On my eleventh birthday, my friend Waseem presented to me an album bearing a hundred beautiful stamps of foreign countries. After that i also took to removing all old stamps from letters and parcels. My father used to get a number of letters and parcels from foreign countries. So, it became easy for me to collect stamps of American, European and Muslim countries. I made a pen friends in some foreign countries and exchanged Pakistani stamps with them. At present, I have over two thousand stamps of 40 countries in my album. I take pride in my collection and am ever keen on adding to it.
